The Solemnity of the Passing of Our Holy Father Saint Benedict

Today, Benedictines throughout the world celebrate the Solemnity of the Transitus (Passing) of Our Holy Father St. Benedict.

On this day we celebrate the death and passing of Saint Benedict from this world into eternal Glory.

The words of opening prayer from today's liturgy gives a deeper understanding of the meaning of this Solemnity:

"Lord our God, you filled the blessed abbot Benedict with the spirit of your Son and made him a master in the way of perfection.  As we celebrate his entrance into glory, may we attain that love which surpasses all understanding."

Please pray for the monks and for all the Sons and Daughters of St. Benedict.

We invite you to come join us for the conventual Mass this evening in the Abbey Church at 5PM.
